"A man accused of stabbing a Kansas City college official intended to instead attack Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and mistakenly believed he had done so, police said Thursday.
The suspect, 22-year-old Casey Brezik, did not know Nixon and had no particular beef with the governor, but he decided to attack him because he was a top government official, Kansas city police spokesman Darin Snapp said."
If you live outside of Missouri, did you hear about this? I didn't until yesterday when Gateway Pundit posted a blog about it. This was reported by Fox News but I don't recall a mention on any of their programs on the air. A man attempts to assassinate a Governor just to attack a top government official and there is no NATIONAL news reporting on this??? What is wrong with this picture?
Brezik's parents claim that he suffers from mental illness as reported by WLSI TV:
"Brezik's father, Raymond Florio, said his son has a long history of mental illness and hasn't received the medical help he needs.
Court documents from Springfield show his mother, Heather Brezik, described her son as paranoid schizophrenic and sought legal guardianship in 2007. She dropped the request when Casey Brezik was sentenced to prison for drug possession."
Maybe if this had been reported on the national news level, a light bulb would have gone on and someone would have sought help for Jared Loughner, the apparently mentally deranged Tucson shooter.
Why wasn't this reported? Was it because the Governor is a white male and the assassin is a minority? Was it because the assassin is a self-proclaimed Left Winger? Was it because, as Jack Cashill suggests, that it involved a knife as opposed to a gun? (the Left isn't on any mission to ban knives - yet).
Thanks to this story getting absolutely no national attention, Brezik's Facebook page is still up. It doesn't appear to be rants of a deranged schizophrenic as his Mother suggests. The only mental illness that is clear on his page is Progressivism. He even uses Obama's favorite chant - 'Yes we can':
It appears we have a Left Wing assassination attempt on a Governor; a Dean of a Community college was stabbed as well as someone who was coming to his aid (a bit heroic don't you think?); a knife used as opposed to a gun; a claim that the assassin is mentally ill and a minority attempting to assassinate a Caucasian. All of these things make for an extremely interesting news story to say the least but the Main Stream Media remained completely silent on this. Why?
A Left Wing minority who uses a knife in an attempt to assassinate a white politician just doesn't fit into the Main Stream Media's agenda; it defies their 'party line' that it is the Right who are violent; it defies their mission that guns are violent; and it defies their mission that minorities are victims of the white man. Simply put, the Main Stream Media have lost all credibility as journalists and have gained notoriety as being nothing more than shills for the Progressive agenda.
What would have been reported on a world-wide level is if the assassin was Right Wing. Period.

NOTE: I had listed that Nixon was a Republican when I first posted this - a commenter brought it to my attention he is indeed a Democrat - which baffles me even more but looks like the media figured out the assassin was Left Wing so didn't bother with the story.

I hadn't heard a thing about it until Glenn Beck posted it today 1-24-2011 on FB. I live in Kirkwood.
I did not hear about this assassination attempt until today on the Glenn Beck Show. I also live in Missouri. A person has to question why we did not hear of this when it happened last September. It is certainly very important news for Missouri residents, as well as for the Nation. Strange.
But how on earth does this go unreported? Doesn't it get picked up by the UPI or AP? Why should it take this long for bloggers to post about it? Did other governors hear about it through their association? The news blackout is what is really strange! I haven't seen Glenn Beck's show as yet, we tape it for evening viewing and we'll see what he has to report.
I live in Missouri also and hadn't heard anything about this. I will have to watch Glen's show. Have it taped. I first saw this in email from Glen Beck and watched radio clip. This really angers me that nothing was said regarding this until now!
I beg to differ with you Kimberly, the story was widely covered. I first heard it on CNN the day it happened (9/14/10), however, CNN and Fox News originally only mentioned that Nixon was present during the attack. It wasn't until the next day that the media learned that Nixon was the actual target.

You might want to check into that link, as the credibility of your story and JIM44 comes under some question. Because why is it that everyone else doesn't seem to have had any trouble finding the story, which was posted by copious sources, and you or JIM44 didn't see them?
Sorry Jerry but you are wrong. There was posts made by news sources of the AP story online but there was NOTHING going further than that. All they were were AP blurbs.
No investigations, no on AIR news stories. This is a huge story and SHOULD have been reported nationwide yet it was not. That is the point and it is extremely CREDIBLE.
How could this have gone totally unreported by everyone in the mainstream media. After all the leftist BS I have heard over the attempt on Gabby Giffords in Arizona this should have been plastered everywhere.OOps I forgot he is an admitted far wing leftist and a minority. First of all, I don't believe this has to do with politics. If it bleeds it leads. No one blood, the politician was not actually stabbed, someone else was. No one was killed. That's why the press didn't do much coverage. But obviously there was some coverage, otherwise your AP clip wouldn't have been posted. In the case of senator Gifford, several people were killed and she was shot in the head. That is the type of story that makes headlines. The left is not on a mission to ban guns, they would like to ban semiautomatic weapons. There's a big difference. The irony of the Gifford's tragedy is that there was a bystander at the scene carrying a concealed weapon with him at the time Gifford's was shot, which he presumably purchased to protect himself. But he never used once when he actually had the chance to "protect" himself. So, tell me again the logic of your argument?

And like it or not, this is the way media has always been. Should it have been made national news? Of course. But... things aren't always the way they should be. So why did Glenn Beck wait so long to run the story again? It was just to make a point I assume. The story certainly got more attention this time around, when it was used to fuel a talk shows hosts publicity. I'm just saying...
